Dr. Marilyn Tobey grew up in a military family. By the time she graduated from high school in Virginia she was in her 10th school and had visited 20 countries. She then completed the ten month instructors course at Morven Park International Equestrian Institute before earning her BS in Biology at New Mexico State University. She next moved on to the University of Florida to work towards her PhD in the College of Medicine's Department of Immunology and Medical Microbiology. UF's new College of Veterinary Medicine accepted her into its second class and she graduated in 1981 with her DVM degree.
Dr. Tobey's veterinary career has included staff positions in small animal hospitals in New Hampshire and New Mexico, extensive work in several emergency clinics in California and Florida, serving as a relief veterinarian in California and Florida, drug testing at horse shows, and starting new veterinary practices. Floral City Veterinary Hospital is the third practice that she has owned and her favorite by far. When not at work she enjoys her horses and Rhodesian Ridgebacks whose pictures can be seen in the photo gallery.
Pauline has been a veterinary receptionist for over thirty years and is a dedicated Rottweiler fan. Her favorite part of the day is going on a long walk with her own Rottie.
Pauline is our receptionist and runs the front office. She answers the telephone, schedules appointments, checks people in and out when they are here for appointments, helps with prescriptions, and always maintains her cheerful attitude. Like the other staff members, she is trained to provide laser therapy and enjoys the hands on interaction helping the patients heal and feel better.
Sara Scozzafava has been working at Floral City Veterinary Hospital since it’s opening in 2006. She is working on her BS degree in Animal Science at the University of Florida, and has also been the advertising manager for Florida Sporthorse Magazine since 2010. Sara enjoys riding horses, fishing, and scuba diving with her family.
Sara is in charge of the surgical and dental services, manages the inventory, sets up and reads laboratory tests, assists in the exam rooms, takes x-rays, administers laser therapy, and competently helps with anything and everything else that comes up.
